Violations of customs legislation are subject to heavy sanctions. There are two main laws that have application in this field: Customs Law No. 4458 and Anti-Smuggling Law No. 5607. The "intention" factor is not taken into consideration in the implementation of the Customs Law. For this reason, heavy sanctions can be applied for very simple mistakes. In addition, there is a prison sentence under the Anti-Smuggling Law. For this reason, it is important that customs procedures are carried out without errors.
